Will the solar industries push for legislation to eliminate nuclear power as “clean engergy”?If not what is the Solar industries explaination of calling nuclear clean, when it releases fission products ect in the air, land & water everyday? I believe the consumer is confused when pro-nuclear interest call nuclear clean and wants to keep as a part of the energy package. What is your opinions?

The solar industry trade group (Solar Energy Industries Association, SEIA) supports all forms of solar energy. They do not actively work against other forms of energy, nor do they work for them. In the world of legislative work, it is very dangerous for one industry to work against another, it is far more productive to work for our own industry, and let others work against other industries. SEIA does work to obtain the same level of benefits and incentives as other energy industries receive, and as you may well know, nuclear already receives substantial economic incentives.
That said, many of us actively support, outside of SEIA, work that counters nuclear’s claims of costs, carbon output, and sustainability. I’m a member of the Union of Concerned Scientists National Advisory Board, and they have studied this issue carefully. When compared to a basket of other renewable technologies, solar wins the economic battle, as well as the sustainability battle, against nuclear power. See reports at http://www.ucsusa.org/publications/#Energy for more information.
The confusion in many consumer’s minds has been placed there very deliberately by the nuclear lobby, which unfortunately, is better funded than the solar and other renewable energy lobbies.
