We just ran across this picture of Jeff Wolfe with US Secretary of Labor, Hilda Solis, at Solar Power International ‘09. The pic is featured in a slideshow on the US Department of Labor website.
groSolar wowed the crowds this past Saturday at the Strolling of the Heifers parade! We organized a Precision (sort of) Umbrella Drill Team and showed off some of our signature moves for the thousands of parade spectators. It was a ton of fun and a great event! If you missed it this year, mark your calendar’s for the Tenth Anniversary Stroll, June 3-5, 2011. See our highlights and photos below.
A little taste of what’s to come from groSolar at this year’s Strolling of the Heifers in Brattleboro, VT. Join us this Saturday for the Parade/Stroll at 10am followed by a host of other events throughout the day including the Green Expo.
Dawn & I had the great pleasure of attending the Upper Valley Solar Sprint today in Lebanon, NH. Students from the Thayer School of Engineering at Dartmouth College organized this event as part of the U.S. Department of Energy’s Junior Solar Sprint (JSS) Car Competitions. Middle School teams from the Upper Valley of Vermont and New Hampshire worked to design and build solar cars to compete in race and design categories.
The students designed their solar cars based on specific criteria and rules. For example, the motor and solar panel were purchased and had to be used in the car without modification while the rest of the vehicle could be made from any other materials. The objective was to build a solar car that raced on a 20 meter racecourse using the sun as its only source of power.
The students who raced their solar cars today did a fantastic job and had some very impressive (and fast) cars! The winners are going on to the Northeast Junior Solar Sprint Championship on June 13th in Springfield, MA. Nice job everyone!
groSolar will be participating in the Vermont Business & Industry Expo next week at the Sheraton Conference Center in Burlington, VT. This is a two-day show displaying the best of Northern New England. Stop by and visit groSolar at booth #148.

As groSolar’s CEO, Jeff Wolfe, said,”We’re proud to sponsor the MetLife team and we believe they are excellent ambassadors for groSolar’s message – that solar power is a lifestyle choice with a global impact. In the race to save the planet, we are determined to install solar on as many rooftops as possible. The MetLife team is exceptional group of athletes committed to practicing and promoting sustainable living, encouraging healthy ideals while racing at an elite level.
