Case Study: Farm-Way

Farm-WaySystem:

58 kW Grount Mount PV Array

Overview:

Farm-Way is a well-known Vermont retailer and now produces nearly half of its power from solar electricity. An initial project cost of $450,000 was reduced by $226,000 with a grant from the Vermont Clean Energy Development Fund. Farm-Way will produce approximately 43% of their electric power from the solar installation and save nearly $14,000 on their electric bills annually. Break-even is expected within 10 years. “It is not just about the economics: becoming more environmentally sensitive is compatible with our core beliefs in enjoying nature and minimizing negative impacts on natural systems,”
said Skip Metayer, Vice President of Farm-Way. The 58 kilowatt ground mounted array is located in a field adjacent to the facility which leaves room for future solar expansion.
