Founded in 1998, groSolar has provided solar energy solutions to the distributed generation market in the U.S. for over 18 years.
In the first years of its operations, groSolar was owned by a founding team of entrepreneurs dedicated to offering high-quality solar to residential customers in the Northeast region of the U.S. As groSolar expanded, its investors grew to include private equity investors focused on the renewable energy industry, including NGP Energy Technology Partners, SJF Ventures, and Calvert Social Investment Fund.
In April 2016, groSolar was acquired by EDF Renewable Energy, Inc. (EDF RE) and became an independently-operated subsidiary of EDF RE.
